Oh yeah… humidity! I forgot about you.

Playa Hermosa is on the Pacific Ocean about halfway down the coast of Costa Rica… and the wireless is sketchy so I’m going to post pics while I can and not write too much. It’s just beautiful and hot and humid. I think today (Friday) was 95 degrees with 100% humidity.  The sand here is black… and after it heats up it is impossible to walk on it. After getting out of the surf today I’m guessing the sand was 150-ish. Not exaggerating. Ok.. here are some pics from the last 3 days.

This White Faced Monkey tried to grab my hat after I took his pic. (True). Then he tried to sell me some chiclets. (Not true).

Friday's surf. Big... but closing out.

I’ll post more pics as they come… but wanted to get some of them online.

  1. Beautiful pictures! I’ve never seen black sand before! Have you ever studied photography or did you learn by trial and error?

  2. Thanks Holly! I took one class in HS, that’s it. I have always liked taking pics though… I’ve learned a lot by trial and error… I think that’s the best way.

  3. Hey Dave! This seems to be your South American/Central American year! What fun! Black sand is crazy. I plodded in it in Montserrat before the island was overcome by volcanic ash. I do not remember the heat on it, but just remember how dirty it felt! Therefore, spent more time at the hotel pool than at the beach! Enjoy all the jungle animals!

  4. Nice vacation and pics. I’ll need to plan a trip down to CR soon.
